Arbor Age and Landsculptor Magazines Cite Successes in Controlling Emerald Ash Borer with ArborSystems Products
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- ArborSystems' Pointer Insecticide, an imidacloprid product, and the Direct-Inject no-drill tree treatment system are cited for their longtime successful control of Emerald Ash Borer in June's Arbor Age and Landsculptor magazines.
"Arborists in Southeastern Michigan have been successfully saving Ash trees with our products since 2001," said Chip Doolittle, president of ArborSystems in Omaha, NE. "The articles show that Ash trees can be protected and recover from EAB infestations using Pointer applied with our Direct-Inject system."
Arbor Age magazine refers to Mark Baldwin and Associates in Plymouth, MI who has made Direct-Inject applications of Pointer on 30 trees in a residential neighborhood beginning in 2001 and continuing today. The article reported "The Pointer treatments provided outstanding, 100-percent control of the EAB; not only did all 30 ash trees survive and recover, but no new injury or attacks were found based on canopy, trunk and limb injury ratings since 2003. These trees have recovered to such an extent that for the past several years they have been putting on a minimum of 2-3 feet of growth per year."
Landsculptor magazine mentions "After use of the Wedgle and Pointer (imidacloprid) since 2001, these trees have shown no evidence of EAB activity or damage for many years. Even though there is excellent success at the Plymouth site, the EAB stills creates 'insect pressure' as evidenced by the swarming of adults within 50 feet of the trees."
Pointer is the only EAB chemical labeled by the EPA for two-year control. It is trunk injected using the ArborSystems Direct-Inject system, the only non-drill injection method available. Drilled injection holes can permanently damage a tree's ability to move nutrients and repeated drilling can seriously harm tree health. Most trees are treated in less than five minutes using this simple application method that does not require waiting for the uptake of chemicals, guarding during the draining process, power or pumps.
Annual applications of imidacloprid are recommended for areas with heavy infestations or for trees in the curative stages and every other year in preventive situations where infestations are lighter. Pointer should be used along with various nutrients to keep the trees as healthy as possible.
ArborSystems provides a variety of no-drill tree injection systems and chemicals designed to meet a broad range of tree care needs. For more information, visit www.ArborSystems.com.
