Two Books by Author Joan Wai Among Top 10 Titles in the Small Press Bestsellers List by Library Journal

Los Angeles, CA (PRWeb) February 21, 2007 -- Two paperbacks by Joan Wai, 100+ WEDDING GAMES and 100+ BABY SHOWER GAMES, are among the 10 most requested books (from a small press publisher) in libraries. They appear in the March issue of Library Journal's Small Press Bestsellers list. The prestigious Library Journal is America's oldest independent magazine for librarians. March is also Small Press Month, an annual celebration of books published by small, independent publishers.

There are an estimated 70,000 publishers in the U.S. according to the Small Press Center, and the majority of them are small presses, that is, publishers that print less than 12 books a year. The Library Journal's Bestsellers list announces the top 20 small press titles most in demand for the previous 6 months. Only just released last year, 100+ WEDDING GAMES has rocketed to 3rd and 100+ BABY SHOWER GAMES places 7th. Author Joan Wai credits her books' popularity to crowd-pleasing games written for a contemporary audience, adding that she's especially gratified because "making the bestseller list with both books means helping many people play and laugh together during two of life's happiest milestones."

TheBrainstormCompany.com is a small business Joan and a partner started out of a tiny home office to publish the first edition of 100+ WEDDING GAMES in 2003 after finding no books about wedding reception games. The author popularized the phrase "wedding games" in reference to games played at a variety of wedding related festivities. 100+ Wedding Games is now in its second edition.

About the Books

100+ WEDDING GAMES: Fun & Laughs for Bachelorette Parties, Showers & Receptions (ISBN 0972835423 ) is a 144 page paperback describing over 100 wedding themed games, pranks, and activities for large and small groups. It is the only book in print with bachelorette party games, bridal shower games, and wedding reception games.

100+ BABY SHOWER GAMES (ISBN 0972835415) is a 128 page paperback that describes over new baby shower games and fresh twists on classic baby shower games.

Joan's books have been featured in Bridal Sources Magazine, Audrey Magazine, Party & Paper Magazine, Bowker's Recommended List, England's You and Your Wedding Magazine and Wedding Ideas Magazine, Australia's BridesDiary.co.au, WeddingsIreland.com, and more.

Writing Children's Books: Take Chances To Get Published
In an editorial several years ago, I described a tree house in the backyard of a local restaurant. I wrote, "The entire structure has been pieced together from recycled lumber, much of which still bears the paint, logos or posters of the original walls from whence it came. The generous platform is ringed by a sturdy fence that includes branches of the tree itself, random two-by-fours, wooden signs, and even a pair of moose antlers. The 'house' is more of a lean-to, tall enough for kids (but not adults) to stand up inside, with a screened door and two screened windows positioned so occupants can easily spy on the diners below or out over the adjacent parking lot. A green padded bench that looks like it had once belonged in a diner adequately...
