Expanded Books Uses Transit TV's Innovative Medium to Provide Bus and Rail Passengers with Exclusive Book Previews and Author Interviews
Los Angeles, CA (PRWeb) January 30, 2007 -- Expanded Books has formalized its affiliation with Transit TV and now provides its book preview videos and author interviews for broadcast on public transit systems equipped with LCD screens in six major U.S. cities. Over 11 million weekly passengers who ride buses and trains in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Orlando and San Diego, can now view Expanded Books content as part of Transit TV's regular programming lineup.
Founded in 2004, Expanded Books began as a company that collaborated with major publishing houses to produce author interviews to air as streaming video on major web portals such as Yahoo!, MSN, and Apple's iTunes Store. In the two years since its founding, Expanded Books produced and broadcasted interviews with such bestselling authors and illustrators such as Steve Berry, Sandra Brown, Maurice Sendak and Orson Scott Card, as well as with such public figures and celebrities-turned-authors as former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, Queer Eye's Carson Kressley, Eric Idle, and football great Jerry Rice.
Previously, these interviews were internet-exclusive, but the recent partnership with Transit TV has launched the start of Expanded Books' leap from the web into other innovative distribution channels that have proven successful. Transit TV is one such company that has re-imagined the ways in which people can access media. Currently, the company brings its programming into public transportation vehicles through 9,000 screens installed on close to 4,000 buses and subway trains.
"We're very enthusiastic about our collaboration with Transit TV," says Skye Van Raalte-Herzog, one of the founders of Expanded Books. "From the beginning, one of the goals of the company was to utilize technology to effectively promote books, since print media has generally been overlooked as a form of entertainment that could benefit from recent advances in technology. Transit TV shares our vision of bringing compelling video content to areas of public life that were previously inaccessible. We want to make great entertainment and information easily accessible to everyone of all ages, everywhere."
Transit TV's CEO Gerry Noble is equally excited at adding Expanded Books to Transit TV's array of programming, "our goal is to provide our audience of young, vibrant viewers with entertaining and informative programming - Expanded Books achieves this perfectly."

Writing Children's Books: Take Chances To Get Published
In an editorial several years ago, I described a tree house in the backyard of a local restaurant. I wrote, "The entire structure has been pieced together from recycled lumber, much of which still bears the paint, logos or posters of the original walls from whence it came. The generous platform is ringed by a sturdy fence that includes branches of the tree itself, random two-by-fours, wooden signs, and even a pair of moose antlers. The 'house' is more of a lean-to, tall enough for kids (but not adults) to stand up inside, with a screened door and two screened windows positioned so occupants can easily spy on the diners below or out over the adjacent parking lot. A green padded bench that looks like it had once belonged in a diner adequately...
